Itinerary

The heart of old Chengdu, the Wide and Narrow alleyways and courtyards are lined with Ming- and Qing-era buildings and teahouses, many converted into shops, restaurants, and food outlets. Absorb the historical atmosphere and architecture, and visit a beautiful courtyard to sample local tea and traditional snacks. Admire the ornate teahouse as you learn about tea-drinking etiquette before stopping to sample local street snacks.

Explore a bustling wet market and peruse the wares as you learn about the spices and ingredients of Sichuan cuisine and its staple dish of hotpot. Then, visit a restaurant to savor an authentic hotspot served in true Chengdu style: dipping assorted meats, vegetables, and other delicacies into bowls of two types of hot broth.
